There are no age group divisions in Pétanque competition.
Format is Select Doubles.
The game of Pétanque (pronounced ‘pay-tonk’) is played with six (6) boules per team (three per player in this format). The target ball is called a cochonnet (or jack or little piggy). The object of the game is to get closer to the cochonnet than your opponents. A team will earn one point for each boule that is closer to the cochonnet than their opponents’ closest boule. The games are played to 13; games are timed in the qualifying rounds.
There will be three qualifying rounds in the morning. Depending upon your results, you will either enter the Concours (from which the overall winner will succeed) or the Consolante (a second chance to have fun).
